A nice perspective\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Amsterdam is like a small town surrounded by water with houses from another time in shimmering colors. A very lively city, day and night, in which I always felt safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several neighborhoods are worth the detour, accessible by foot and full of nice surprises. I share with you my favorites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well-hidden\namong the world-famous shops, a few meters from the Kalverstraat,\nthrough a small back door, hidden from prying eyes: Het Begijnhof\n(the Beguinage), founded in the 14th century. A group of buildings\nwhich houses private dwellings including the oldest wooden house (Het\nHouten Huys), a British Reformed Church which serves as a chapel. A\nhaven of peace in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the city. A\n5-minute walk away, take a detour to the city&#8217;s oldest bar, Caf\u00e9\nHoppe!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nhistoric district of the 9 Straatjes (the 9 streets between the\nPrinsengracht, the Herengracht, the Raadhuisstraat and Leidsegracht),\nis a real jewel. And I\u2019m not saying that because the gallery in\nwhich I have the pleasure and honor of exhibiting is located there,\nat 24 Berenstraat, or maybe I am &#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s\nnot forget the museum district. The Van Gogh Museum reveals more than\n200 paintings and 500 drawings by the famous Vincent!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Right\nnext door is the Rijksmuseum, where you can discover or revisit the\nclassics of Dutch painting from the 17th century, known as \u201cthe\nGolden Age\u201d. And more particularly you will be able to admire \u201cThe\nNight Watch\u201d by Rembrandt. I remained hypnotized by this\nmasterpiece. Worth the visit on its own!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For\ncontemporary art enthusiasts, the Stedelijk is there for you. An\nultra-modern building to offer a very fine collection of paintings by\nmasters such as Matisse, Mondrian, De Kooning, Chagall, Malevitch,\nPicasso&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To\nrecover from your emotions, just next to the museum district, a 48 ha\npark, the Vondel Park.<br>\n <br>\nTo end this weekend, a quick word\nabout Centraal Station: a station built in 1869 on the sea, which\nrests on 8,687 stilts (I counted them myself!), in neo-Renaissance\nstyle.
