Animals hold a very special place in my heart, in my life. They are my life. I begin this artistic trilogy with the cat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The cat, a\nfascinating animal. The first and only animal I’ve ever shared my\nlife with. His name was Charly. He passed away on January 24, 2025. I\nlived with him for 18 years of simple, pure, and intense bliss. He\nhas always been by my side, for better or for worse. The only living\nsoul loving me unconditionally. A brief aside to talk about my\ndaughter; a child’s love is unique.
\nI know he’s here with me,\nsomewhere in this room where I’m writing this text, or in that other\none where I painted this artwork. Unconsciously, I carved two cats\nwith a knife. Do you see them?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One is blue, the\nother is white… But you can just as easily see something else… Or\nsee nothing at all. That is the joy and complexity of abstraction. It\nis also freedom for each of us and finally the magic at the moment of\nits creation. I don’t think at all about what the drawing will give,\nI let my hand go with the chosen tools: brush, knife, …. I just\nchoose the colors very great care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Color\u2026 A huge\ntopic. It\u2019s what guides me. Since the beginning of my encounter\nwith painting. Instinctively, I mix them together while hoping to\nachieve the perfect match. I either get it or I don\u2019t! It\u2019s very\npersonal, like an \u00ab initiation \u00bb quest. And it also\ndepends on the mood of the day. This is why it\u2019s important to start\nand finish a painting on the same day, for abstract painting of\ncourse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I talk and talk, well, I write and write, I digress … Let\u2019s go back to the Cat\u00a0!So, I turn my head to the left and there, right next to me on the couch, is 11-month-old Zoey! She lived with Charly for 7 months; they hit it off the second they met. Sometimes, I catch her staring blankly into a specific spot. And I tell myself that he’s here among us, his soul still protects me. It’s so good to know someone is watching over you. I’m so lucky.
