I find them majestic. The atmosphere, the noise, the colors are all factors that take you on a journey through your mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>I once happened to\nwitness a fireworks display on a beach in Berck, northern France.\nIt&#8217;s magical! There are no barriers at that moment. It&#8217;s just the sky\nand the horizon. Lying on the sand, eyes wide open, focused. I am\nspellbound by each explosion: a whistle and bam! For ten minutes,\nsometimes longer, nothing else exists. The people around are silent,\npatient, curious. Some make the mistake of coming with babies in\nstrollers, crying, terrified children, dogs that tremble or escape.\nHow reckless&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another time, I was\nin front of the Ch\u00e2teau of Valen\u00e7ay. It\u2019s completely different.\nThe architecture magnifies the show. The music carries thoughts far\naway. It\u2019s incredible how it blends perfectly with the various\npyrotechnic figures. There, I feel transported back in time. To the\ntime of princes and especially princesses with their beautiful\ndresses! I see myself walking delicately along the paths lined with\nrose bushes and hundred-year-old trees. Delighting in the scents and\nthe freshness of the fresh air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There was this time\nin Cannes too. Oh yeah, I almost forgot\u2026 I was 15! At the end of a\ndinner at Martinez restaurant and hotel, feet in the sand, the table\nat the end of the pontoon, it stood there before my amazed eyes. It\nwas crazy. I don&#8217;t remember the menu at all, but the fireworks were\nbreathless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When I think back to\nmy younger years, there were also those country fireworks displays\nset off by our fireworks expert neighbor, followed by the July 14th\nball in a village near Auxerre&#8230; A whole good-natured world where\neveryone knows everyone else and is happy to meet up for a friendly\ndrink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And last but not\nleast, the one from the year 2000. I was in Paris with friends. We\nfound a pretty good spot that had a view of the Eiffel Tower, of\ncourse. My daughter was only 4 years old at the time. She ended up on\nthe shoulders of an unknown acrobat who was next to us! An\nexceptional, unique moment.
