I feel\u2014today, and so much more than yesterday\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The fire within me rises as I barely open my eyes. I am still half-asleep; it courses through my body, stirring into action. Then the thoughts follow\u2026 I start organizing my day in my head. Stop! No way\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I get up and decide to let things unfold naturally. I move from one activity to another without any premeditation. And as if by magic, everything gets done with ease and speed. What time is it? Is that all?! Yes, time is relative\u2014and it\u2019s always on our side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have several exhibitions to prepare and so many details to manage. I make lists, I write things down, I cross them off. And yet, there is so much to consider: drying delays, packaging, inspiration, and the cold and dampness creeping into the house and slowing down the schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And here I am, writing these few lines to go along with this vibrant, colorful painting. It features two of my absolute favorite colors: orange and purple. Though green is missing!

There is a sense of perpetual motion\u2014the movement of life, of breathing, of passing time, and of the teaspoon stirring a hot blend of lemon, cinnamon, fresh ginger, turmeric, and honey. Playing in the background is an album by Etienne Daho\u2014my favorite singer, who is never far away. All that\u2019s missing now is a roaring fire in the stove; that will have to wait a few more weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m starting to get hungry, so I\u2019m going to make myself a nice lunch; then, this afternoon, I\u2019ll be varnishing the new paintings. It\u2019s all in the schedule\u2014the goal is not to get overwhelmed, but to keep making steady progress well in advance to avoid any panic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And always that perpetual motion, those blazing colors, that heart beating\u2014hard, so hard; fast, so fast\u2014never stopping. Yet, when I gaze at the painting, I feel calmer, soothed, serene, still. Is it the color? The form? Whatever; it makes my soul feel good. And when it finds its new home, it will carry on the mission I set in motion\u2014without its knowledge\u2014with my brushes, palette knives, and pigments. It took a great deal of thought, a dash of inspiration, the ability to let go, and, inevitably, trust and joy.
