Oil on cardboard – 8 x 8 inch – Unique work
This fall, I came back from the exhibition of the painter Nicolas de Staël at the Museum of Modern Art in Paris.
I literally discovered this painter. I knew just his name but nothing more. I was blown away, dizzy. I have never felt like this after an exhibition, ever. Once I got home, I wanted to change my way of painting, my colors, my vision. And after a few weeks, I got there and this is what it looks like. I owe it to this special day.
An autumn day with stunning sunshine and blue sky. Leaving the museum you have a view of the Eiffel Tower which is very beautiful with the distance needed to contemplate all its iron beauty. I went down some stairs and crossed the Seine to land at its feet. It is so huge.
I decide to continue my walk just along the Seine towards the Musée d’Orsay. Small aside, this museum is awesome. It is absolutely worth the detour. Its permanent collections are beautiful and varied, covering all genres and its temporary exhibitions are always interesting. Besides, I absolutely have to go the Van Gogh exhibition which ends at the beginning of February!
I walk among the regulars, the joggers, the tourists. I discover my own city on this side of the Seine. There is the Musée d’Orsay on my right with its big, huge clock. This old station which… I said it was only a parenthesis! I definitely close it to return to the main subject of this text: a walk in Paris.
I take a look at the other side and… this bridge immediately attracts me. This sculpture on the edge of the quay which shines brightly with the radiant sun of this late afternoon. A gorgeous golden salamander which watches over this unique bridge with its candelabra, its statues…. All this will be the subject of a next story for another painting. But what’s on the other side of the Alexandre III Bridge? That huge monument? But yes of course, it is the Grand Palais. Currently in full renovation. It will soon be brand new!
This is how this walk in Paris ends, I push on to the Louvre Museum to cross the Seine and take the metro towards Rue de Rivoli. What a blast this Paris under the sun. Gold is exploding everywhere. I have stars in my eyes.
