Oil on cardboard – 9,5 x 7 inch – Unique work

Marie is a painter.

She has been drawing and painting since she was little, since she knew how to hold a pencil, a brush in fact. Her parents have always supported her. Growing up, she tried all kinds of techniques, in addition to acrylic, watercolor, pastel, pencil, … And then, one day, for her birthday, she received a magic box. A wooden box containing a treasure: extra fine oil pigments. The Graal !

She then threw herself on this technique and refused to use anything else. She is inspired by everything and the little things that fuel her daily life. While she is finishing art school, she meets her soul mate, gets married, has one, then two then three, then four children, takes a dog, a cat, buys a house. A completely classic course, ordinary. A journey that kept her away from her passion, her gift. She doesn’t work but keeping this beautiful family together takes all her time, her oxygen, her inspiration, her energy.

Years go by. The children grow up, the animals leave this world, the husband leaves. There remains the house, far too big, which ends up being sold after years of legal battles. Marie finds herself on her own. After a few more years to rebuild herself, she stumbles upon her magic box from her youth one fine morning. A blessed period where it all began.

She finds a canvas waiting for her in a corner and without thinking begins to paint. The colors that appear are fabulous. Marie recovers her gift, her inner joy. She feels alive again. To celebrate, she calls her best friend. They meet in Montmartre. A magical place, with its Place du Tertre, a sacred place for painters.

The evening is mild, the tourists are there. They crowd all around this mythical place. They observe the drawings, the paintings, are caricatured. They are curious, happy. Marie is over the moon. Her friend has never seen her so fulfilled for a very long time.

Suddenly, the rain comes. They shelter under bright red umbrellas. In the distance, they see the Sacré-Cœur which seems even whiter than usual. So Marie closes her eyes and makes a wish.

But hush ! If I reveal it to you, it will not come true. Since that evening, Marie has been very happy…
