Oil on cardboard – 9,5 x 7 inch – Unique work
Paris and its treasures, hidden or not! In every corner, obviously, you can come across something fabulous!
So, on the Place de la Concorde, I grant you, this is not what we call a corner. No, and yet, being so accustomed as we are to walking through places without actually seeing them, have you ever taken a close look at the barrier surrounding the Obelisk? Have you ever religiously observed the fine gold metalwork that adorns this set?
Take a closer look and you will discover a whole world, a whole story. You will immerse yourself in Egypt, on the meanders of the Nile, aboard a precarious boat, pursued by pirates. The Nile, cradle of Egyptian civilization with the pyramids and the sphinx of Giza near Cairo. An entire show !
Here, a waterfall. Could it be the Victoria Falls on the Zambezi River? Precise location of the border between Zambia, near the town of Livingstone, and Zimbabwe. The river in the cataract for about 1700 meters in width and up to a height of 108 meters. A radical change of scenery. The deafening sound of water invades you. You can feel the splashes on your face. The heat of the country is only a memory.
Come a little closer. Lose yourself in gold. Close your eyes then open your eyes. Where are you ? In Australia… In search of the gigantic nugget of the century through the steep paths of the Australian bush. Maybe with the help of a few volunteer kangaroos, anything is possible. The nugget? It is right there in front of your amazed eyes.
So you think wealth, pomp and the image of Ludwig II of Bavaria, nicknamed the “mad king” appears in your unconscious. A sweet romantic dreamer who locked himself in an imaginary world. Another version of wealth and pomp, French version with Louis XIV, nicknamed the “sun king” with his superb castle at Versailles.
By taking a step
back, you then become aware of this perfect perspective which
projects your eyes in the distance towards the Church of the
Madeleine and its neoclassical architectural style. Closer, you have
the Hôtel de Crillon, its luxury cars for fans.
The next
time you come across the Place de la Concorde wrought ironwork,
everything will look different!
