I’m sitting on the edge of a canal in Amsterdam, my legs dangling in the air without me even realizing it. I’m lost in thought. My eyes half-closed, I gaze at the scene before me. A houseboat is casually moored in front of multicolored houses. Colors that invite daydream.

At the end of the garden, a lake. And on the edge of this lake, on the lake, swans. Have you ever seen a flock of swans in flight? Have you noticed the sound of their wings, their sweep, their movement?

The sun has finally broken through the thin layer of morning mist. It’s mild outside for a Friday at the end of January. I fed the birds sunflower seeds (they love them!) and fat balls. Since then, it’s been a free-for-all. An organized flight from tree to tree, much to Zoey’s delight.
