Oil on wood – 14,96 x 21,65 inch – Unique work
A little paradise in Cantal, are you into it?
An inn which is located in La Gandilhon in Lavigerie, a few miles from Murat, it’s not something you make up! And when I stand on the porch, here’s what the view looks like. Not bad ! And according to the seasons, the landscape reinvents stories.
In winter, foxes dive into the powder to hunt mice and other rodents. No other option, the hens are too well hidden for tasting. Humans have learned the lesson. Chamois, meanwhile, play hide and seek in the mountains opposite. Agile and fearless, their coat stands out wonderfully on the dizzying snow-covered slopes. A permanent show visible thanks to the telescope in the wood-heated bow window. Cosy above all!
Depending on the year and the snow cover in particular, skiing is open and recommended, but nothing beats long snowshoe walks, your face whipped by gusts of mini snowstorm. You have to cover yourself real warm and climb at a good speed to enjoy the landscape that has become lunar.
In autumn, thanks to warm late season days, trees with orange-red leaves, the pleasure is just as real. In few minutes the weather changes, but the walks are different and offer gentle and progressive views of the mountains of Auvergne. The tourists are almost gone, which makes the places even more picturesque and authentic. The altitude is not too high, the temperature cool and the food delicious! Tremendous dishes for dinner and healthy breakfast to face sports day.
And in the surroundings, by car, apart from Murat, other towns like Salers, Aurillac, Saint Flour, Riom-ès-Montagnes, Tournemire, etc. are reachable. And these are just close villages. When France offers exceptional places to visit, be my guest.
And now, I’m going to sit on the terrace, facing this view, with a hot tea and I will dream of better days. The heat rests my pain and lights up my potentials. Suddenly, a flash radiates my numb mind. Bright colors, spooky shapes, surreal sounds, tempting smells … I am delirious, I just got lost once again, great!
