Oil on canvas – 20 x 24 inch – Unique work

It’s happening, it’s the end of the world. However, the little traveling house does not intend to stop there. So she’s up to a long journey with her faithful friend Calcifer, the fire demon, who helps her in this new and final adventure.

To invite no suspicion, she moves just above the oceans at nightfall, when the sky becomes a mixture of blue, purple, pink. When the sun becomes grazing and sparkles on the waves. When nature puts on a perfect show.

So, the little traveling house can venture in search of a life, a very last one with which she could share long evenings by the fireside, kept alive by Calcifer. During the day, they could go out briefly without going too far and feast on this lovelying show. They ? Yes, the very last life and Sophie, the soul of the little traveling house.

Sophie has been around the world for some time now, just over 80 nights. And so far, nothing, absolutely nothing. Tonight will be the last. She can’t take it anymore. So she tells Calcifer about her obviously drastic decision. The latter then puts all his firepower possible to reach an ultimate place for the occasion. And as the little traveling house hovers above the sea with minimal smoke billowing from the sheet metal pipe, a little something, there, so close, stranded on a tiny sandbar, catches her eye.

So, Sophie opens the sparkling red wooden door, takes a few steps into the water barely up to her ankles and… finally, there he is, right before her amazed eyes, the ultimate life: a sea shell, failed there. She crouches down to pick him up and carries him home, to safety. She must warm him up, maybe even feed him.

Calcifer is so, so happy, he burns even more. The flames spring up and the little traveling house continues its journey at full speed, joy has invaded the main room. How sweet it is to share with a fragile and magnificent being who has been able to resist bad weather and human cruelty. This shell will bring her luck, Sophie is convinced of it.

Eventually, the adventure goes on in the company of her new friend. In the evening, if you pay close attention, you may see the little traveling house flying above the waves.
