This morning, I am in a contemplative mood.
What if I wandered around Paris and landed in a specific spot and looked around… That would be great! The sky is a bit cloudy but that does not affect my inner joy. I know the rain won’t be there. Tomorrow maybe, but not today.
I have no sense of direction so the wandering is really going to be hectic! Don’t ask me how I ended up there, which streets I took, or even which subway exit, I don’t remember. Everything is blurred in my brain, it is too busy with what it sees. And what happens in front of it is so magical that nothing else matters. It treats priorities on its own, like a grown up!
And then what happens next you ask me?! I am standing, still, in the middle of a growing crowd and facing me… But how Royal is this bridge! Of course, it’s the Royal Bridge… And behind on the right? Thank you technology, thank you internet and Google!
It is the dome of the Institut of France. A little history: created in 1795, the Institut of France’s mission is to offer the five Academies a harmonious framework to work on the improvement of letters, sciences and arts, on a non-profit basis. And these five Academies are: French Academy, Academy of Inscriptions and Belles-Lettres, Academy of Sciences, Academy of Fine Arts, Academy of Moral and Political Sciences. A major patron, the Institut of France encourages research and supports creation through the awarding of prizes, scholarships and grants. Major program!
And then, I also see the Sainte-Chapelle, intended to house the most precious relics of Christianity, including Christ’s Crown of Thorns, acquired by Saint Louis. It is fifteen stained glass windows fifteen meters high with stained glass windows of 1113 scenes from the Old and New Testaments telling the story of the world until the arrival of the relics in Paris. And finally, the famous Notre-Dame of Paris Cathedral, before this terrible fire of April 15, 2019, since the arrow still points its high impact waves towards the sky. Notre-Dame is one of the most emblematic monuments of Paris and France. It is dedicated to the Virgin Mary.
This morning, I was in a contemplative mood, what a journey through history.
