Just by saying its name, I have goose pimple. Far from the romanticism of Venice, this emblematic place indicates a completely closed bridge leading prisoners from the courthouse to prison.

For a few more seconds, for some an eternity, they can watch the channel one last time before the often final detention. A double corridor guiding them either to the wells (dark and wet dungeons) or to the sinkers (shoking heat cells under roofs covered with lead shots). But no communication possible between convicts, the tunnel is closed. Anyone with a sensitive soul could only hear cries and lamentations.

I visited the place. And to go from the splendor of the palace to the sinister prison by this cold and black gut, I didn’t came out unharmed. It’s as if shadows, ghosts still roamed among us, tourists. It’s as if no one ever comes out quite entirely from there. Oh yes of course the body has disappeared a long time ago, but right now I’m talking about the soul, this breath of life floating among us. She’s always there somewhere.

I came out of the visit freezing cold. Always my daughter in one hand! Never change a winning team ! We talked a lot about it to exorcise any traces that would have remained in her mind. But at that age, 8 years old, it’s wonderful. Everything is important and at the same time nothing is. Everything is so relative. The scope is different.

OK, here I become “pain in the ass” with my comments. The text will become very heavy to read. You could even be tempted to skip it completely and you would have the right to do so. We are in the era of internet and zapping, something to keep in mind!

Then we entered Café Florian, the oldest, most famous, most luxurious, and most expensive cafe in San Marco’s Piazza in Venice, founded in 1720! We enjoyed hot chocolate and tea and a pastry to recover from our emotions, especially me! To continue this peaceful, unique and magical moment, we both wrote a poem.
